Start of School '23

On August 16^th, during the regular session of the board of education meeting, it was decided that the Tarkio R-1 school district would not start school as regularly scheduled due to the finalization of the construction projects that have been occurring in the district over the past two and a half months.  While the vast majority of the project will be wrapping up during the first part of the week of August 21^st, several minor items will still have to be completed.  The decision to not have classes on August 24^th and 25^th is based on a few concerns that the administration has regarding adequately cleaning and preparing student and staff areas.  In some cases, teachers will still be organizing and prepping their rooms on August 24^th and 25^th.  In addition, there are technology updates and hardware that need additional time to be installed and troubleshot.  Finally, the final cleaning of the building following construction falls on the district staff to complete.  Following a construction project of this nature, cleaning will be an ongoing process.  We felt that additional time to clean was necessary to adequately prepare the building for staff, students and the community.  Tarkio R-1 will start school on Monday August 28^th at 8:00 a.m.  We appreciate everyone’s understanding in this matter and are looking forward to starting the 2023-2024 school year!!
