Open Positions in the Tarkio R-1 District for the 2026-2027 School Year

 
 

1. Paraprofessional

The Tarkio R-I School District is accepting applications for a paraprofessional for the current school year. The paraprofessional must be able to communicate effectively with students and teachers and work as a team with other members of the district. The successful candidate must be able to handle stressful situations and honor confidentiality of students and staff. Paraprofessionals are required to obtain 60 college credit hours, or have passed the Paraprofessional Assessment or have completed the 20 Hour Substitute Certificate Course. 2. HS Math Teacher 

Tarkio R-1 is taking applications for a  9-12 Math teacher for the 2026-2027 school year.  Interested candidates should fill out the appropriate application and email that to Mr. Terry Petersen petter@tarkio.k12.mo.us or contact the High School building for information regarding this position.  660-736-4118

3. Elementary Teacher-

4. 9-12 ELA Teacher-

5. Parents As First Teachers Educator-

Tarkio R-1 is advertising for a Parents as Teachers Educator for the 2026-2027 school year.  The Parents as teacher candidate will be responsible for working with community children and parents providing a program of support from prenatal through kindergarten.  Interested candidates should contact Mr. Dustin Barnes for more information.  660-736-4118 or email at bardus@tarkio.k12.mo.us  
 
Educational Requirements are as follows-  1. Educational and Experience Requirements
Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) guidelines require parent educators to meet one of these four pathways: [12]
  • Pathway 1: A 4-year degree (Bachelor’s) in Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Special Education, Elementary Education, or Family and Consumer Sciences. [1]
  • Pathway 2: A 2-year Associate degree or certificate in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or Nursing, plus demonstrated ability working with young children and parents. [1]
  • Pathway 3: 60 college credit hours plus 2 years of successful experience working with young children and parents.
  • Pathway 4: High school diploma (or equivalent) plus 5 years of successful experience working in a program with young children and parents. [123]
